RECREATION DIRECTOR
South Park Township is seeking a qualified candidate for the part-time position of Recreation Director. Candidate must possess a take-charge personality with the ability to hit the ground running. This role oversees the planning of large community events, the children’s summer recreation program, monthly craft nights and other Township events. The flexible work schedule is 18-24 hours of employment per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ability to work independently and to plan, organize, schedule, coordinate and implement innovative recreational activities, classes and events for the Township.
- Ability to work well with the public, within a group environment, and with various community and athletic associations.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and be very attentive to detail.
- Strong computer skills are required to track field schedules, Summer Recreation Program rosters, and create online registrations.
- Participate in Recreation Board meetings held once per month.
- Work with the Township Manager to prepare the annual budget for the Recreation Department.
- Responsible for recruiting, interviewing and on-boarding newly hired summer recreation counselors.
- Responsible for the continuous evaluation of community social and recreational trends, and relay information to the Township Manager, for initiating the necessary plans of action to maintain community-oriented programming.
- Remain informed of the development of new programs, trends, services and equipment through the attendance and participation in professional conferences, education classes and workshops.
- Performs other job-related duties and tasks as required or assigned by the Township Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required.
- Must immediately obtain appropriate clearances to work in a position interacting with children.
- Limited weekend and evening hours are required.
- Proficiency in basic word processing and spreadsheet functions.
- Ability to meet deadlines and Township department goals and objectives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND COMPENTENCIES
- Employee primarily works indoors in an office setting and outdoors, on occasion, for programs and events.
- Ability to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, stretch and use hands and fingers to handle equipment to perform duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Prior experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

BOOKKEEPER
South Park Township is seeking an energetic, motivated individual who excels at multitasking for the position of Bookkeeper. The position is under the direction of the Township Manager. Duties include the preparation of financial reports, general ledger maintenance, payroll quarterly reports, reconciliation of investment accounts, municipal pensions, and budgetary planning.
Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications: A degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible financial experience in accounting, finance or a related field.
