South Park Township is seeking an energetic, motivated individual who excels at multitasking for the position of Bookkeeper. The position is under the direction of the Township Manager. Duties include the preparation of financial reports, general ledger maintenance, payroll quarterly reports, reconciliation of investment accounts, municipal pensions, and assistance with budgetary planning. Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications: A degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible financial experience in accounting, finance or a related field. Familiarity with the Prosoft financial and payroll software system a plus. Direct experience in municipal government preferred. The annual salary for 2022 is $50,650. Qualified persons are invited to apply to South Park Township to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Police Officer with the South Park Township Police Department.

General Requirements:
Candidates, at the time of application must: (1) Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Must be Act 120 Certified or must have successfully completed PA Act 120 training and passed the final exam at the time of hiring; (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (6) Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Successful applicants to establish their primary residency within a radius of ten (10) air miles of the Township Building, within six (6) months after successfully completing the probationary period. The starting salary for the position is $64,272 and is accompanied by a generous benefit package.

Candidates must have no visible tattoos/or ear plugs. This will include, but not limited to, any areas of the lower portion of the upper arms, elbows, the entire forearms, hands, neck and facial area. No visible body piercings are permitted.

In addition, successful applicants must also meet all the requirements of the Township’s Hiring Policy that includes a background investigation and polygraph test, and if selected, be required to successfully pass a physical and psychological examination.

A completed application with a $60.00, non-refundable application fee, must be filed before 4:00 PM on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Township Building address, as noted above.

The physical agility test will be conducted at the Allegheny County Police Academy, located at 700 West Ridge Drive (North Park)-Allison Park, PA 15101 on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Candidates are to arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. The written exam will be conducted at the Broughton Volunteer Fire Department, 1030 Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236, at 1:00 p.m. on the same date. Photo ID is required for both tests. Candidates to arrive no later than 12:45 p.m.

South Park Township is seeking a qualified individual to fill the part-time position of Administrative Clerk. The candidate will be offering support to multiple Township departments with tasks. Duties include assisting in the wage tax and sewage/refuse office with data entry, filing, account research, accepting and processing payments, and filing/scanning in the Code Enforcement Office. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, assisting at the Reception Desk during the lunch period and during vacations. The ability to deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner is essential. Good organizational skills, computer skills, and the ability to work well in a group environment are also requirements. The starting rate is $15.76 per hour, with a maximum of 20 hours of employment per week. Additional hours are needed when relieving for vacations. The work schedule is 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
