The Recreation Department, headed by Recreation Director Devon Serena, provides organized recreational activities for all residents. Details of various programs are published in the Park News, the Recreation Department Facebook page, and the school district's Peachjar Flyers.
Township Area Parks
Evans Park - Located off Triphammer Road, it is a 50-acre site, which contains seven baseball and softball fields, a playground area, two soccer fields and concessions stands.
Grove Park - Located on Grove Road, Grove Park is a neighborhood playground providing a swing set, play structures, a pavilion and picnic tables.
Highland Park - This parklet is mainly a neighborhood playground and basketball court used by the local children. It is Located off of Sebolt Road. Take Sebolt to Mountain to Terrace to Highland Avenue.
Whitewood Park - Located at the corner of Whitewood and Pleasant Streets, this parklet is a playground for local children.
Wilson Park - Located on Wilson Road, Wilson Park has two softball fields, a playground area and a concession stand.

Hiking / Biking Trails
The Allegheny Trail Alliance Home Page
The Allegheny Trail Alliance is a coalition of seven rails to trails organizations building the Great Allegheny Passage, a 150 mile biking and hiking trail connecting Cumberland, MD and Pittsburgh, PA with a 52 mile branch to the Pittsburgh International Airport.
The Montour Trail Home Page
The Montour Trail is the trail organization that runs through South Park Township. It is a multi-use non-motorized recreational rail-trail that will ultimately extend 47 miles from Coraopolis to Clairton. Currently, multiple sections of the trail totaling over 40 miles are completed. New sections are being added each year.

Allegheny County "South Park"
A 3,000-acre recreational area that is popular for its natural beauty and a wide range of recreational activities. While the park is owned and operated by the County of Allegheny, a large portion of the park lies within the boundaries of South Park Township the municipality.
Activities provided in the park include ice skating rinks, tennis courts, a championship golf course, picnic areas, shelters, playgrounds, ballfields, sled riding areas, summer concerts, horse-back riding, walking and biking trails, a very large, wave-action swimming pool, and a large dog park.
