Information about the Recreation Department

The Recreation Department, provides organized recreational activities for all residents. Details of programs are published in the Park News and the schools distribute flyers at the appropriate times.


The Recreation Board is sponsoring a basketball program again this year for boys and girls in grades 3-7. Practices will begin in December, and games begin in January. The "tentative" game schedule is as follows:

Girls grades 3 & 4 - Tuesday nights.
Girls grades 5, 6 & 7 - Thursday nights.
Boys grades 3 & 4 - Friday nights.
Boys grades 5, 6 & 7 - Monday nights and a few on Wednesday nights.

South Park Township holds its annual Summer Recreation Program starting in June 2020, with registration held in April 2020. Registration fees for all programs and activities are listed below.
**Please note that these programs are for South Park Township Residents only.**

Summer Recreation Program activities include the following:

Crafts with Diane (Limited to 35 children)
Golf Camp (Limited to 40 children in each group) +
Flag Football (Tennis shoes only)

Two (2) Family Members
Three (3) Family Members
Extra Fee for Facility Usage (GOLF AND TENNIS ONLY!)
Late Fee - Sign up after April 2020 (NO EXCEPTIONS!)

$5.00 Per Child

Activity groups will be formed according to the grade the youth will be entering in the coming school year. Registrants may choose as many activities as they wish providing they meet the grade requirements. NO REFUNDS. For additional information, contact the Recreation Director at (412) 831-7000.


Special Events for all Residents:

There are several popular annual events that all residents can enjoy including Easter Egg Hunt & Brunch, Community Day, Children’s Halloween Party, Children’s Christmas Party, and the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

A Note About Fees

Fees, when charged, sustain direct program costs. In many instances, volunteers provide assistance and leadership. Anyone interested in volunteering their services should contact the Recreation Director at (412) 831-7000.
